50 Percent MBA, MCA colleges in front of closure threat
Crocodile festival continues in A.P after engineering colleges, now MBA and MCA colleges join in party, only 40 per cent of ICET 2011 qualified candidates attended to certificate verification process. This was expected before, but that nearly 90,000 seats in both MBA and MCA colleges will go vacant this year is really high then expected before. B.Tech colleges are already in pain with the poor response and so many colleges going to close of the courses, nearly 1 lakh seats going vacant this year. As per officials out of the 1,26,454 candidates qualified in the ICET 2011, only 51,000 attended to the certificate verification. Clearly no takers for 87,000 and odd seats already, and colleges also agree that only few thousands attended certificate verification may not join for various reasons. Management quota seats 75 percent going to be vacant there is hardly any response.
The clear picture which one MBA or MCA get poor response will be revealed only after allotment is done on August 30. All students can give options till August 28. As per previous experience, all officials feel that MCA colleges will be badly hit as most of these students may prefer MBA. In A.P 42,950 seats in 609 MCA colleges and 88,281 seats in 916 MBA colleges. Colleges in the sub-urban and rural areas are no future in this year due to poor response as they surely, they will not be on the students' preference order.
